Be a good Bogger!
Blogging is a great way to pass down information but you have to do it the right way. Most people fail to identify who they are writing for or else who is their audience and end up writing good articles but to the wrong audiences. Which makes the information useless in the wrong audience’s hand.
It is also important to use tools which are easily recognizable by your audience to improve search rankings.
To keep your content organized always structure your post with a clear "what," "why," and "how", there is no other way to say this.
Here are a few tips to follow when writing the post;
- Have a compelling headline and first sentence to grab attention. This is referred to as the hook.
- Make your content scan able by using short paragraphs, bullet points and subheads (H2, H3), short paragraphs.
- Always add value to your content. You can do so by creating an in-depth content (2,000+ words) that is more valuable than existing one.
- Include infographics, videos or images to break up text and increase engagement.
- Remember to always maintain a consistent tone. This will help you build trust with your audience.
Once you are done writing your content, you need to proofread and edit where necessary. A good tip is to read the post out loud in order to check for flow and errors.
Include a Call to Action also known as (CTA): This will give your readers ideas on what to do next, such as signing up or commenting.
Share your content on social media channels to drive traffic. For example, you can post the hook on your Facebook then direct your readers to your article.
Note that as long as you have good content, you will get followers and readers with good reviews. Just remember to be consistence. Try to post consistently maybe once a day/week to build momentum.
Your content should always be up to date. Remember to revise older posts with new information to keep them relevant. Irrelevant content is one way to finish your blog.
To make your content error free and easy to access use tools like Grammarly for editing and Semrush for Search Engine Optimization. There are other tools you can use, so research and choose the most convenient one.
Common mistakes that bloggers make and you need to avoid them to be successful:
- Plagiarism
- Lack of consistency
- Most focus on quantity over quality
- Avoid the use of too much jargon as this will give you a bad rating. Your readers will fail to understand your content.
- Do not create dense and long paragraphs that are difficult to read on screens.
